The Sappey-en-Chartreuse is the closest station to Grenoble (about ten kilometers). In twenty minutes, a Grenoble native is on the slopes. Located on the southern balconies of the Chartreuse massif, this charming village is at 1,000 m above sea level at the foot of Chamechaude, the highest point of the massif (2082 m).
The top of the estate is served by the Grand Sommard ski lift and has two magnificent red slopes (Grand Sommard and Pré du Plat). The total elevation difference between the Grand Sommard upstream station and the bottom of the estate is about 415 m.
We offer private lessons for all ages and levels as well as group lessons from the bear to the Golden Star. In summer, hiking is practiced there. In winter, it is used both cross-country skiing (7 slopes - 42 km) and downhill skiing. Note that beginner group lessons in skiing and snowboarding are offered to adults and teenagers. Small ski school but great results!
The ESF du Sappey will be happy to welcome you to this place steeped in history and close to its roots, toddlers will be able to make their first slides safely at Club Piou Piou, while older children will be able to indulge in the joys of skiing in alpine skiing and snowboarding.
The practice of alpine skiing is attested to at the Sappey at the dawn of the 20th century, a competition being organized there in 1907. The resort is therefore more than a century old! The first ski lift was built in 1947 (TKD La Pale) by an enlightened electrician. The other ski lifts will be built in 1970.
Today, the resort has 5 ski lifts (4 TKD - 1 TKF). The area, oriented northwest, is divided into two sectors and extends between 950 m and 1,370 m above sea level. The relatively flat and easy bottom of the area (160 m of maximum elevation gain) is designed for beginners and medium-level skiers. It offers 2 green slopes and 2 blue tracks.
