What are the esf tests for?

Created by esf,  the tests allow everyone to progress step by step in the practice of snow sports.

On the basis of precise technical criteria, our esf instructors validate with you, or your child, the achievements and the points to be improved in the practice of alpine skiing.

The Flèche

Giant slalom event counting for the SkiOpen classification:
- Test of about 40 seconds.
- Route comprising between 25 and 35 gates and a drop of 200m to 250m.

Performance calculation:
% allowed in addition to the base time achieved by an ESF monitor opener.
Gold: 0 to 15%
Vermeil: from 15.01 to 28%
Silver: from 28.01 to 40%
Bronze: from 40.01 to 45%
Dart: from 45.01 to 50%

Calculation of Performance:
% allowed in addition to the base time achieved by an esf instructor setting the pace.

  • Gold: 0 to 15%
  • Vermeil: from 15.01 to 28%
  • Silver: from 28.01 to 40%
  • Bronze: from 40.01 to 45%
  • Flechette: from 45.01 to 50%

The Chamois

Special Slalom event counting for the SkiOpen classification:
- Test of about 30 seconds.
- Route comprising between 30 and 40 gates and a drop of 120m to 200mm.

Calculation of Performance:
% allowed in addition to the base time achieved by an esf instructor setting the pace.
  • Vermeil: from 17.01 to 35%
  • Silver: from 35.01 to 55%
  • Bronze: from 55.01 to 75%
  • Cabri: from 75.01 to 80%

The Fusée

Super Giant event counting for the SkiOpen classification:
- Test of about 50 seconds.
- Route with a number of gates between 8 and 12% of the height difference.

Calculation of Performance:
% allowed in addition to the base time achieved by an esf instructor setting the pace.
  • Gold: 0 to 15%
  • Vermeil: from 15.01 to 28%
  • Silver: 28.01 to 40%
  • Bronze: from 40.01 to 50%

The Record

The Kilometre test launched!

Timed descent in a straight line facing the slope over a length of 300m to 500m and a drop of 150 to 250 m. Appreciated speed in km / h.

The Skiercross

Skiercross event:
Sequence in Alpine skiing on a technical course of different modules including whoops, tables and raised turns on a slope of about 15 ° and 700m long.

Calculation of Performance:
% allowed in addition to the base time achieved by an esf instructor setting the pace
  • Gold: 0 to 17%
  • Vermeil: from 17.01 to 30%
  • Silver: from 30.01 to 45%
  • Bronze: from 45.01 to 60%

The Saut

Long jump event on skis using a springboard!
2 jumps: the best jump obtained validates the medal.

Calculation of Performance:
  • % allowed under the base jump made by an esf instructor setting the standard.
  • Gold: 10%
  • Vermeil: 20%
  • Silver: 40%
  • Bronze: 60%

The Ski

To validate the ski level (bronze, silver, vermeil, gold), you must have obtained at least two identical levels among the tests: Flèche, Chamois, Fusée, Skier X, Saut.
