London Snow Show 2024 Report

The mountains of France were once again the focus of people's interest as the UK National Snow Show returned to London’s Excel on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October.

Situated alongside France Montagnes, esf were well represented with staff from the esf UK team as well as a small contingent of directors and technical directors from a selection of resorts.

The Saturday, as in previous years, posted a positive foot fall number and many were impressed with the Interactive Wall and Photo Booth that was run by the team. The clientele were especially pleased to hear about new initiatives and ideas as well as be informed about the UK TIME TRIAL for next season. Surprisingly, many people requested to book lessons at the show whereas in previous years this request was few and far between.

A steady flow of visitors to the stand with positive stories of how esf have helped in the past were good to hear and many questions were answered. This all built up to the main part of the Saturday which was the presentation of prizes for UK customers who faired well in the 2023/24 UK TIME TRIAL.

A combination of esf customers and winners and their families attended the stand at 2pm and as Mark Neville, esf UK’s Business Manager addressed the crowd, 80 or so people were keenly waiting to congratulate the winners. With Christian Jullien, Director of both the International market as well as Montgenevre and Sebastian Scott, Technical Director for esf’s Club Med contract in Aime la Plagne, 10 young people received prizes from Rossignol to rapturous applauds. Selected esf customers then enjoyed food and drinks courtesy of esf UK and much was spoken about the transition in recent years of the esf’s attitude to the British and the professionalism and passion shown across the range of esf schools in France.

esf UK continued to offer advice and with special appearances on both days by Piou Piou, children and parents were delighted to have pictures taken with their new esf friend. The event continued into Sunday with healthy numbers coming through the doors and organisers and stall holders were genuinely pleased of the numbers and quality.

The organisers Racoon Events have sold the rights of the Snow Show to the Mountain Trade Network (MTN) and annoucements were made at the LISTEX event attended by esf UK in the days running up to the Snow Show. “Under the new stewardship of Mountain Trade Network, the London Snow Show brand will continue to evolve, maintaining its position as a key community hub for the UK’s snowsports scene,” said a statement from MTN.

MTN was founded by James Gambrill, who is now Chief Operating Officer of the Ski Club of Great Britain. James, now a positive advocate of today’s esf, is looking to take the main role of organiser of the 2025 show and is excited to see how improvements can be made.

A full list of official figures will be released by Racoon Events within 10 days.

Here’s to the teams of France Montagnes and esf for a great show.
