What to expect on an adult beginners lesson

For any skier (or snowboarder) starting out for the very first time, the thought of where to start can be very daunting. With esf, we make the process easy to follow and achieve.

When your lesson has been booked and you are ready to go, the excitement and anticipation of what to expect will suddenly hit you. On the first day you will typically roll out of bed early and have a quick breakfast where the excitement starts to build. After gathering your skis from the locker room and you have switched from your comfy slippers or shoes to your ski boots, you will make your way to the meeting point where you and your other group beginners will be slowly arriving.

Your professionally qualified esf instructor, appointed to your group,  will arrive and introduce him/herself to you and the group. The first thing to expect is the way your instructor will not add any pressure on you to learn quickly or keep up with others. You learn and ski at your own pace at all times and within the safety boundaries laid out at the beginning.

Once you have found your ski legs and are comfortable with the feel of snow under your skis your instructor will help you manoeuvre around on the flat part of the slope for you to build confidence.

Only then will you be able to look at sliding gently on the flat ensuring your skis are balanced and not crossed. Your instructor will always be on hand for questions as well as demonstrations. Depending on the progression of the group the instructor might introduce you to the magic carpet or drag lifts, however, in the first few days you will be getting used to moving on skis on the flat and gentle slopes.
